Online Interface/Sludge Blanket Level Analyzers Performance Evaluation Report

This test reports presents results of four online interface/sludge blanket level (ISBL) analyzers field-tested in a wastewater treatment plant environment of secondary settling basins (clarifiers) over a period of three months utilizing ultrasonic technologies supplied by four different manufacturers. 

The District of Columbia, Water and Sewer Authority (DC WASA), Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, in Washington, D.C. sponsored this test.  This report provides an overview of performance test procedures, outlines instrument specifications and includes performance test results for instruments manufactured by:

Suspended Solids and Turbidity Analyzers Online Maintenance Benchmarking Study

This maintenance study presents comprehensive maintenance information and benchmarking data reported by 135 surveyed water, wastewater and industrial treatment facilities.  This reports provides a history and background of suspended solids and turbidity analyzers and discusses the principles of how the different analyzer technologies function including scatter, absorption, Coriolis and torque effects. 

This report provides the end-user with reported longevity of instrument's make and models in-use; installation, calibration and maintenance requirements; and reported performance, accuracy and maintenance costs. This study examines the use of various analyzer technologies, reports calibration and maintenance practices, and provides treatment plant evaluations of instrument effectiveness and estimated service costs.  Benchmarking data provided in this report by surveyed treatment facilities form a basis of knowledge to assist in understanding the advantages and limitations of analyzer technologies.
