Maintenance Benchmarking Study

This maintenance study presents general treatment facility staffing
benchmarking data reported by 135 surveyed water, wastewater and industrial
treatment facilities. This reports provides a description of typical plant
staffing profiles with generic organizational charts and provides generic
job descriptions for various instrumentation, automation and control (IC&A)
staff positions including instrument technicians, electricians, and
automation and control specialists. In addition, this study provides a
discussion of the efficient utilization of computer maintenance management
systems (CMMS).
Surveyed treatment facilities report IC&A staff tasks and time allocated for
performing maintenance. Treatment plants report IC&A qualifications
including education, experience and training requirements. In addition, IC&A
staff salary ranges and management practices are presented. This report
provides the end-user with a tool to manage and budget IC&A staff.
